Undo send

Every message waits in the outbox for a few seconds before it leaves, and until then you can take it back or send it right away.

How it works

When you send a message, FOLD does not hand it to your mail server at once. It places the message in the outbox and starts a countdown, 10 seconds unless you change it.

• Undo stops the send and returns you to the editor with the message unchanged.
• Send now skips the rest of the countdown.
• When the countdown ends, FOLD submits the message. From then on it can no longer be recalled.

On the Mac the compose area shows In outbox with “Sending in 10 s” and a progress bar, next to Send now (“Skip the wait and send immediately”) and Undo (⌘Z). On iPhone and iPad a floating banner shows Sending … with a progress ring and Undo.

Choosing the delay

• Mac: Settings > Notifications > Undo Send.
• iPhone and iPad: your account picture > General > Undo Send.

Below the option FOLD explains: “After you press Send, the message can still be recalled for this long.” The value applies to messages you start after the change, and each device keeps its own setting.

Scheduled messages

A message scheduled with Send Later has no countdown. It waits in the outbox until its time, and the confirmation reads “Scheduled for” with the date. On the Mac, Open & edit in the outbox reopens it, so you can change the text or the time (Change send time). If you close it again, Keep scheduled leaves it unchanged and Discard removes it.

The outbox

Waiting messages are listed in the Outbox. On the Mac, Send waiting mail now sends all of them without waiting, and a single message can be taken back with Cancel send or Remove from outbox. If a message cannot be delivered, FOLD tries again; see Offline and message integrity.
